The National Health Insurance Company proposed that the Moldovans from 2015 should be issued with the patient’s health card instead of paper health policies. The document will contain the person’s identity number, data about the blood group, vital risks, chronic diseases, etc., IPN reports.

In a meeting with journalists, the Company’s director Mircea Buga said that at least €3 million will be needed for issuing health cards, but the project may be implemented with European donations. As many as 2.6 million people had mandatory health policies in Moldova in 2013. 1.6 million people are insured by the state.

In 2014, the mandatory health policy for unemployed persons will cost 4,056 lei. As the previous years, the health policy in the first three months will be sold at half price. The compulsory health policy calculated in percentage contribution from the salary and other remunerations will rise by 1% to 8%, 4% of which will be paid by the employer and the other 4% by the employee.
