The Traffic Police warn that the high temperatures are causing the asphalt on some Moldovan roads to buckle, creating cracks and obstacles. Roads with concrete plating are also affected, with some plates on the national road M-14 Chisinau-Balti sliding as much as 50 centimeters sideways. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Traffic Police communications officer Andrei Dragnev said that increased risks of accidents due to heat-induced surface irregularities exist on the roads Chisinau-Balti, Chisinau-Anenii Noi, Chisinau-Hancesti, Chisinau-Leuseni and Chisinau-Stefan Voda. To prevent further damage, the movement of vehicles exceeding 20 tonnes on these roads is banned from 11:00 to 18:00. The Traffic Police are advising motorists to be maximally cautious behind the wheel, especially at night when visibility is significantly reduced.
