Yesterday evening's heavy rain caused blackouts and floods in a number of villages. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fierce storm with thunder, lightning and hail affected more than ten settlements. Half of Straseni town and Tiganesti village remained without electrical power. Power outages were reported in eight villages of Ialoveni district. Two homes were partly flooded in Suruceni village. The rain and hail damaged crops in the villages Bolduresti, Macaresti and Costuleni of Ungheni district. The damage is being assessed by a special commission. The damage caused by the May 24 and 25 rain totaled 2.3 million lei.
