High-profile friendly match for Zimbru

Zimbru Chisinau will follow Dacia’s example and will play a friendly match against a Romanian club. Zimbru chose leaders FC Timisoara as opponents and will meet them on Zimbru Stadium, March 27. The fixture will be played during a domestic break related to European Championship 2012 qualifiers. One day earlier, Dacia will face Romania’s most prestigious club, Steaua Bucharest, on the same stadium, Info-Prim Neo reports. Zimbru’s official website announced Romanian midfielder Daniel Balasa’s return to the club. Between 2003 and 2008, he played 71 league matches for Zimbru. During that spell, he won the Moldovan Cup twice and participated in European competitions. He has since played for Arges Pitesti and FC Brasov. Recently, there have been some changes in Zimbru’s board. Andrei Cecetov quit as club president, while Igor Oprea replaced Gheorghe Juravel as director. Juravel will also remain vice president. During the winter break, Zimbru strengthened its squad with three additions: Romanian defender Flaviu Cornea, Czech midfielder Ales Schuster and Nigerian striker Henry Agochi. After 26 rounds, Zimbru are 6th in the National Division table, 4 points below the European competitions zone.
