Higher allowances for veterans and participants in Chernobyl cleanup

As of October 1, the monthly allowances for persons with disabilities who took part in the Nistru war, the Chernobyl cleanup or World War II cleanup will be by 550 lei higher. The Cabinet approved a bill on the additional social protection of particular categories of people that was proposed by PAS MPs, IPN reports.

The allowances for the veterans who fought for the integrity of the Republic of Moldova and in Afghanistan, for the living spouses and also for the rehabilitated victims of the political repression of 1917-1990 will be increased by 250 de lei.

Over 30,000 people will benefit from higher allocates. The measure will be implemented at a cost of over 36 million lei this year.
