Higher allowances for war veterans and their families

The Cabinet decided to increase the allowances paid to those who participated in military conflicts or in the alleviation of consequences of technogenic disasters. The participants in World War II will receive monthly allowances increased by 500 lei to about 2,050 lei and also a one-time allowance of 10,000 lei each, IPN reports.

The persons involved in gathering ammunition and military equipment, in demining the territory and devices during World War II will receive by 5,000 lei. The victims of the combat to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, of wars on the territory of other states or combat in peacetime will receive monthly allowances increased from 1,625 to 1,850 lei, depending on the disability degree.

The participants in the Chernobyl cleanup activities will get allowances of 1,600 lei, by 250 lei higher than at present. The surviving spouses of the participants in these activities and of persons who died in war or who remained disabled will receive by 1,000 lei, as against 750 lei a month at present.

Starting with January 1, 2024, the annual financial assistance granted to war veterans, participants in the Chernobyl cleanup activities and victims of political repression is fully financed from the state budget and is set and paid by the National House of Social Insurance.
