The amount of the monthly bonus for holding the titles of doctor habilitate, university professor, research professor will increase from 1,100 to 4,500 lei. This is provided in a decision drafted by the Ministry of Education and Research, IPN reports.

According to the draft decision, the amount of the bonus for holding the titles of doctor of science, associate professor and associate researcher will increase from 600 to 4,000 lei.

The Ministry of Education and Research said that the decision is designed to eliminate the major discrepancy between the amount of bonuses granted for holding teaching degrees to teachers who work in general and technical vocational education and the amount of bonuses granted for holding scientific or scientific-teaching titles to scientific and scientific-teaching staff, who work in higher education institutions working in financial-economic self-management regime.

Currently, the bonus for the second teaching degree is 1,500 lei, for the first degree – 2,800, and for the senior degree – 4,000 lei. Also, the bonuses granted for the titles of doctor habilitate, university professor, research professor is 1,100 lei, and for doctor of science, associate professor and associate researcher – 600 lei.

According to the Ministry of Education, this situation is due to the fact that for over 10 years, the bonus for holding scientific or scientific-teaching titles has not been changed, compared to the bonus for holding teaching degrees.

The draft decision is to be examined and approved by the Cabinet. The Ministry of Education and Research proposes that the increases come into force on September 1, 2025.
