HiSky has announced the procurement of a new plane in dry-lease regime, which is its second contract of the kind. The A319-131 aircraft was assembled in 2004 and is to land in Chisinau in September, IPN reports.

The plane was bought under a new contract with Air Lease Corporation, a leading aircraft leasing company with an investment portfolio of over US$22 billion.

“We are delighted by the opportunities offered to us by the constructive relationship with Air Lease Corporation and proud of the fact that we attract large investments to the Republic of Moldova. A new plane means a stronger fleet and, respectively, a larger number of flights. Therefore, we will soon be able to announce the launch of new fights and I’m convinced that the passengers will greet the news with great joy,” said HiSky director general Iulian Scorpan, being quoted in a press release of the company.

For their part, representatives of Air Lease Corporation voiced hope that the fruitful relationship with HiSky wills materialize into more such acquisitions. “ALC is pleased to announce this new rent contract with HiSky Moldova. We were impressed by the business plan on which this new air traffic line in Moldova is based and are honored to be those that provide them with the first aircraft, A319 and A320, so that they could launch their airline this summer,” said Air Lease Corporation vice director David Beker.

The communiqué also says that HiSky becomes the operator with the youngest fleet in Moldova, the average age of the aircraft being of only 12 years and a half.

HiSky entered the aviation services market of Moldova this February. As of July 1, it will operate flights to six destinations in Europe, namely London (the UK), Dublin (Ireland), Lisbon (Portugal), Paris (France), Bologna (Italy) and Dusseldorf (Germany), in basic, classic, premium and premium plus classes.
