The Embassy of Hungary in Moldova has opened in Chisinau an exhibition of photographs by Hungarian architect Sebestyén József titled “Dialog”. The exhibit was mounted on the occasion of the National Day of Hungary that is celebrated on August 20. The photos were exhibited inside the Interethnic Relations Bureau, IPN reports.

Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Mátyás Szilagyi said the exhibition was staged to mark the National Day of Hungary, which is the holiday of Saint King Stephen the First, who founded the kingdom of Hungary. “The exhibit centers on the history and patrimony of our country where the dialogue of the past reminds of the fundamental century-old connection between Hungary and the Europeans countries. Europe must have not only integration rules and mechanisms, but also heart and soul, and must observe the traditions and values of the communities and national groups,” said the ambassador.

Interethnic Relations Bureau deputy head Vera Petuhov said it is very important for the Moldovans to know more about the culture and traditions of the European countries and the famous Europeans now that Moldova chose the path to European integration.

Serghei Munteanu, head of the Architecture and Urbanism Division of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, said the pictures were taken by an architect and this is very important. “When taking photos, an architect usually makes effort to catch the soul of the building. Architecture is a development component of a state and society. By architecture we see the development path, the relations and the soul of the people who built these architectural monuments,” he said.

Architect Sebestyén József, who wasn’t present at the opening of the exhibition, had worked on the pictures for 15 years. The photos represent metropolitan settings, castles, fortresses and sculptures, old and new bridges, etc.
