“B.P. Hasdeu” libraries from the capital, as well as those from the suburbs, will add new history books, signed by historian Valeriu Pasat, to their patrimony, reports Info-Prim Neo. Manager of the library Lidia Kulikovski stated that the books would be spread among the libraries’ branches. The gift contains different works of the historian, such as monographs or historic documental collections. Lidia Kulikovski mentioned, at the donation ceremony, that the libraries do not have adequate history books; this lot comes as support for those who want to know the real history of the Republic of Moldova. Political analyst Anatol Taranu, head of the Strategic Researches and Political Consultancy Center “Politicon”, stated that Valeriu Pasat has a series of works dedicated to the Stalinist and deportations periods, and the value of these works is priceless. Anatol Taranu added that Valeriu Pasat created premises for historic research for years to come. At the same event, historian Iurie Colesnic said that Valeriu Pasat builds his works in stages, the documents in his works being the fundament, after which the synthesis follows. “The library now has in its possession both a material fortune and a spiritual fortune”, the historian said. Valeriu Pasat claims that he wanted to donate these books for a while now, and finally decided to take this step, by gathering money with his colleagues. This act comes not only from his concern regarding prospective historic research, but also from the desire to offer the possibility for people to form their opinion on issues from our country’s past; the reader can consult published documents that refer to Moldova’s contemporary history, the Sovietization of Moldova and its consequences. The event was organized with the support of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, and municipal library “B.P. Hasdeu”.
