House fires claim two lives

A burning candle caused a fire that took the life of a 51-year-old woman from Nicolaevca village, Cahul. The woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning though the fire wasn't large and destroyed slightly only a part of the things in the room. Dorina Sochirca, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire happened on February 14 in the morning. The preliminary cause is careless use of open fire. Locals said the woman was a widow and lived alone. Her daughter and the three grandchildren live in the neighboring village. In the evening of the same day, a fire in Hartopul Mic village of Criuleni district resulted in the death of a 73-year-old woman. The circumstances in which the fire started are not yet known. The ten fires that happened in Moldova yesterday and last night claimed two lives.
