Hundreds of hectares of gardens in southern and northern Moldova were affected by the rain with hail and high winds of June 4, IPN reports, quoting the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service.

In Cismichioi village of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the rain damaged over 700 ha of private gardens, 23 ha of vineyards and the roofs of 15 houses. The strong wind removed the metallic tiles from the roof of the local lyceum. Hectares of crops were also affected in Chiosalia village of Cantemir district.

The storm also caused havoc in northern Moldova. In Alexeevca, Floresti, 25 ha of orchards were damaged. In Frumusica village of the same district, the rain destroyed over 135 ha of corn. In Larga, Briceni, there were affected hectares of orchards.

In Chisinau municipality, two vehicles got stuck on a flooded road portion and had to be towed away.

The local emergencies commissions are to determine the size of the affected areas and the caused damage.
