Hunting season for hares, pheasants and other species comes to an end

The 2013-2014 hunting season for hares, ducks, hazel grouse, migratory birds and peasants closes on January 12. Only foxes can be hunted by April 27.

Chairman of the Association of Hunters and Fishermen Oleg Ciocoi has told IPN that the number of hares fell and it was hard to hunt them owing to the lack of snow. But the hunting of pheasants was productive.

According to preliminary data, there were instituted more than 700 legal proceedings over poaching and violation of hunting rules. Over 60 guns were confiscated. Oleg Ciocoi said there were imposed fines, but rather small ones. The fine for hunting without authorization and permit is 1,000 lei, regardless of the number of killed animals.

As to boar hunting, Oleg Ciocoi stated that the necessary authorization costs 2,500 lei, plus 500 lei for entering the forest. “The hunters pay this money, but may hunt no wild boar. The Agency “Moldsilva” makes money this way,” he said, adding that the authorization for hunting boars abroad costs €2-3.
