The former municipal police chief Iacob Gumenita was arrested for ten days, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office. The arrest warrant was issued by the Centru district court at the request of prosecutors of the Exceptional Cases Division. Iacob Gumenita is investigated as a suspect in the case over misuse of power by the police on the night of April 8, 2009. The former police chief appears in the pictures taken by the video cameras placed on the Government's building. He is shown kicking young persons in the Great National Assembly Square. Gumenita was to be quizzed by the prosecutors last week, but was hospitalized with hypertension and the questioning was postponed.
