ICT companies recruit specialists

Thirteen information and communication technology companies are taking part in the fifth ICT Career Orientation fair staged at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) on December 1. Employers recruit students who want to take part in internship programs or to become employed. The organizers said the young people’s interest in the ICT sector is increasing, while the supply of jobs is unlimited.

The ICT Career Orientation fair is held at the University’s Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics Faculty. It includes information sessions for those who want to learn about the latest trends in the field, IPN reports.

In the opening of the event, UTM rector Viorel Bostan said the ICT sector is the most dynamic one and it attracts the best ones. “Five-seven years ago, it was considered that a good career can be built only in law and economy. Now the best lyceum graduates choose a career in information technology. However, those who choose such a career have to learn throughout life to be able to cope with the frequent changes in the field,” he stated.

The rector noted that by such events, dialog is established between the employer and student, and the university, and the young people find out the requirements of employers and the priority areas. Engineering has always been in demand on the labor marker.

Ana Chirita, executive director of the National Association of Private ICT Companies, said the quality of training of the participants in such events has considerably improved during the last few years. The companies present their expectations. The specialists have great employment opportunities and, if 10,000 specialists appeared in addition to the existing ones, these would be employed the next day.

The companies that take part in the fair inform the young people about their vacancies and the necessities that can appear in the future. The students can also choose from among internship offers. Many students leave their data for being contacted when vacant jobs appear. Among the companies participating in the ICT Career Orientation fair are Starnet, Endava, Orange, and Moldcell.

Mirela Cosnete, human resources specialist at Starnet, said the young people are offered both jobs and internships or programming courses at Starnet.

Eduard Panfili, manager of the newly founded IT company Stefanini, said they are looking for specialists who would develop applications. An internship program will be staged at the beginning of 2017 and the company will then recruit interested young people.
