By the end of this year, the citizens of Moldova may have new identity cards that will be the size of bank cards, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a Government Decision. The new identity cards will contain the classical data, such as the name of the holder, the date of birth, and the picture as well as the domicile, which is now indicated on the loose leaf accompanying the card. The loose leaf will be kept, as it is needed when voting, but will be excluded when the Electronic Register of Voters is created. When repeatedly applying for the identity card and the passport, there will be no need to present the soldier’s record book and the civil status documents. The prices of the new identity cards will remain unchanged. If a new card is needed when the person changes the family name or domicile, the price may be halved. The new identity card will have the same period of validity. The old cards will be used in parallel until their expiration.
