If the Moldovan authorities cannot reach an agreement with the U.S. company Kroll over the second stage of investigations into the banking fraud, an extended tender contest will be announced, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said in a press briefing on September 10, quoted by IPN.
The Premier noted that in the last meeting of the National Committee on Financial Stability, it was decided to invite representatives of Kroll to Moldova for direct negotiations. “Only if we do not manage to reach a consensus with this company will we hold a new public tender contest and not only four service providers will be invited to it. It will be a contest with pre-selection criteria that would extend the number of participants with experience in in conducting investigating and recovering assets,” he stated.
Also today, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said that if he sees that the launch of the second stage of investigations is delayed at the Government level, he will make approaches to the National Bank for this institution to take measures in this respect. If the Bank also stalls for time, it will be a signal that the investigation into the stealing is not wanted and he will thus initiate the dismissal of the administration of the National Bank. The Speaker promised that he will do everything possible for the people to find out who committed the theft.
