Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici found himself in a difficult situation that he created himself, political analyst Igor Botan, one of the organizers of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” (“DA”), said in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
The analyst stated that they didn’t pursue the goal of humiliating Gaburici when they invited him to meet in the square of the National Library. “It was a coincidence. We didn’t want to humiliate him by making reference to his studies. The National Library is the place where we, those from the “DA”, meet when we come to read. We wanted to transmit the resolution adopted at the May 3 protest to the leaders of the minority coalition. In virtue of the post held, Gaburici was to do this,” he said.
Igor Botan noted that the unionist messages formulated in the protest were accidental. “Our movement is a civic and apolitical one, of all the people. Our goal is to get rid of the corrupt government and corruption in general. In the near future, we will meet with representatives of ethnic minorities and will explain our goal to them so that they realize that it is in their interests to be with us. We will also meet with representatives of unionist movements,” he stated.
The analyst denied the accusations that the protest was financed from abroad, made by heavyweights of the government coalition. “We spent less than 10,000 lei. The people came to protest because their hearts told them to do so. The people woke up. They came to confirm what polls show – that they no longer have confidence in the political class,” said Igor Botan.
