Igor Dobrovolski makes public list of players for preliminaries
The coach of Moldova’s national team Igor Dobrovolski has confirmed the list of the 25 footballers that will play against Latvia and Israel in the 2010 World Cup preliminaries.
The presence of Alexandru Gatcan (FC Rostov, Russia) and Nicolae Josan (Anji Mahachkala, Russia) on the list was the greatest surprise. Last week, Doborvolski said that the participation of the two players was in question because they had obtained Russian citizenship and the officials of the clubs for which they play do not allow them to perform for Moldova anymore.
Among those included in the list are goalkeeper Maxim Copeliciuc, halfback Vasile Caraus and striker Igor Picusciac, who could make their debut for the national senior football team.
The list includes: goalkeepers Nicolae Calancea (Zimbru), Stanislav Namasco (Sheriff), and Maxim Copecliuc (Academia UTM); fullbacks Alexandru Epureanu (FC Moscow), Victor Golovatenco (Himki), Igor Armas (Zimbru), Serghei Lascencov (Olimpik), Alexei Savinov (Baku), and Radu Rebeja (Himki); halfbacks Andrei Corneencov (Sheriff), Vitalie Bordian (Metalist), Valeriu Andronic (Baltika), Nicolae Josan(Anji), Denis Zmeu (Vaslui), Victor Comlionoc (SKA Rostov), Igor Tagarlas (Ventspils), Alexandru Gatcan (Rostov), Alexandru Suvorov (FC Tiraspol), Eugeniu Cebotaru (Ceahlaul), and Vasile Caraus (Spartak Nalcik); strikers Viorel Frunza (Spartak Nalcik), Serghei Alexeev (Sheriff), Gheorghe Ovseanicov (Olimpia), Igor Picusciac (Sheriff), and Igor Bugaiov (Ural).
The Moldova versus Latvia match will be played in Tiraspol on September 6, starting at 19.00. On September 10, Moldova will meet Israel in Chisinau.
