President Igor Dodon considers the documents drawn up in state institutions should be in the Russian language as well and that the teaching of Russian in schools must become mandatory again. He made such statements in an interview for “Rossia 24” channel, quoted by IPN.
Igor Dodon said all the state institutions, not only the presidential administration, should issue documents in Russian too. According to him, in Parliament practically all the bills are presented in the Russian language as well.
“In Moldova, over 90% of the young and elderly people speak Russian. Knowledge of Russian for the Moldovans is an advantage before other neighbors of ours. From economic, social, political and statehood strengthening viewpoints, we should tend to come closer to the strategic partnership with Russia,” stated Igor Dodon.
The President thinks the Russian language should be taught in schools on a mandatory basis again and the school program should be thus modified. Now this is an optional subject.
