The chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon had a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser. The politician told the diplomat that the economic situation in the country is disastrous and the holding of early elections would be a solution for remedying the state of affairs, IPN reports.
In a communique, the PSRM says that Igor Dodon spoke with the ambassador about the economic situation in Moldova, which is neglected by the parties of the former alliance that cannot divide the state posts between them and delay the formation of a new government coalition. He noted that the delay in forming the Government is turning into an offense at a time when representatives of the power and persons affiliated to them steal large sums of money from Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and UNIBANK, with the participation of the National Bank.
The leader of the PSRM told William H. Moser that the pro-European parties won a mathematic majority in Parliament because they discriminated against the Moldovans who are working in Russia and against the holders of Soviet-type passports as these persons were deprived of the right to vote. Igor Dodon said the authorities committed multiple violations during the election campaign, including the illegal removal of a party from the electoral race two days before the elections. Therefore, the November 30 legislative elections cannot be considered democratic and free.
According to Igor Dodon, the early elections should be followed by the formation of a government based on such a criterion as professionalism, not on political quotas. The new government will have to immediately start to revitalize Moldova’s economy, safeguarding the national interests and pursuing the goal of increasing the living standards.
