Ilie Cazac's parents say they were visited by the EU Special Representative for Moldova Kalman Mizsei, who advised them to keep silent and do what the Transnistrian state security ministry says. Ilie Cazac's mother Stela Surkichyan said she is phoned daily and told to come to Tiraspol alone, if she wants to see her son, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ilie's father Alexandr Vinitski said initially Kalman Mizsei promised he will take them with him when he goes to Tiraspol, but did not keep his word. “He came and said he was already in Tiraspol, but did not explain why he did not take us, as he promised,” said Ilie Cazac's father. Alexandr Vinitski doubts that the EU representative had talked to Ilie Cazac. “When I asked him if the man he met there was our son, he said “probably yes”. This makes us think it wasn't our son,” he said. Ilie's mother said with indignation that Kalman Mizsei told them to write a letter to General Vladimir Antiufeev, the Transnistrian minister of security, if they want to see their son. “Why should we write that letter? Why don't they help us if they have relations and contacts? How can I amiably ask Antiufeev to allow me to see my son? It's absurd!,” said Stela Surkichyan. She said she is daily phoned by a woman who says she is Ilie's lawyer and invites her to Tiraspol. “We are sure this is a trap. They want to make us abandon the protest and arrest us in Transnistria,” said Stela Surkichyan, adding she will not go to Tiraspol alone, only accompanied by representatives of the OSCE. Ilie Cazac, 24, was arrested in Bender on March 19 on charges of treason and spying for Moldova. He faces up to 20 years behind bars. His parents have protested in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau since June 12 . After about 20 days of hunger strike, they interrupted the protest as their condition worsened, but then resumed it.
