Illegal hunting after closing of season

Five cases of poaching have been identified this year after the hunting season was closed, the head of the Interior Ministry's Prevention Division Vadim Grinko has told Info-Prim Neo. “A person in Ungheni district hunted and killed a young deer with a gun held illegally. Legal action will be taken against the man. Under article 233 of the Penal Code, he faces up to seven years in jail or community service,” Vadim Grinko said. According to the official, three more cases of illegal hunting were recorded in Donduseni district, while one in Drochia district. “According to article 120 of the Penal Code, the other four cases of poaching hares, deers and boars are punished with fine of up to 2,000 lei,” Grinko added. The hunting season was opened on November 1, 2009 and lasted until December 28, 2009. The hunting of hares is allowed on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, until January 10, 2010. The boards and wild ducks could be hunted also by December 28. The hunting of spotted dears, hares, elks and ordinary deers was banned during the hunting season.
