The Civil Aviation Authority warns the owners of drones to be responsible when using remotely-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Authority, the consequences for the inappropriate use of such vehicles, the non-observance of the air legislation and rules of using drones can have serious consequences, IPN reports.
The warning was issued following the intense migration of drones from the military sphere to the industrial sector and civil circuit after new types of accessible sensors and Open Source software solutions appeared.
In a press release, the Authority said that drone flights during the past few years have been identified in the area where commercial flights are operated, above crowds of people, infrastructure facilities and other buildings. The safety of aeronautic security and flights, national security, the people’s right to life and health were thus endangered.
The Aviation Code that took effect on March 23, 2019 stipulates the notion of unnamed vehicles that can be flown only with the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority. The cases when the flights take place in specially reserved places, in accordance with the procedures concerning the allocation, reservation and segregation of areas in the national airspace where flying takes place, are an exception.
Also, under the law on the control of airspace, the use of Moldova’s airspace for aero-photographing and filming purposes is allowed with the written permission of the Civil Aviation Authority and the mandatory appraisals of the Ministry of Defense and the Security and Intelligence Service. The principle of using drones should ensure a safety level similar to that of manned aircraft operations and strict control as regards the protection of personal data and private life.
