The management of social services offered to children at risk will be streamlined by implementing an information system that will replace the manual reporting processes and will provide the authorities in the health, education and public order sectors with instant access to the necessary data and the possibility of tracking over time all incidents on individual cases of the child, IPN reports.
“Strengthening the child protection system is a priority for this Government. This, in fact, was one of the basic goals of the RESTART reform. We were all shocked by cases when children found themselves in situations of risk. Children give birth to other children and this is the result of the fact that for many years, the Government’s investments and interventions in this area were scarce,” Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said at the Cabinet meeting at which the decision to digitize the system for reporting cases of children at risk was approved.
The minister noted that this year alone, the number of specialists in the field of child protection on the front line has tripled. “This allowed us to accelerate a number of results. For example, in the first six months of this year we doubled the number of custody decisions regarding children whose parents are abroad. Today we are making a very important decision through which we digitize and make our interventions in the field of child protection much more efficient. We will have this case management tool, a very efficient tool through which the system will intervene in a more coordinated, efficient, transparent way to ensure that all children in the Republic of Moldova, especially those who are at risk, benefit from high-quality interventions and services,” stated Minister Buzu.
The authorities said that the system will help improve the statistical and analytical recording of the activities carried out and the measures applied by the authorities responsible for the special protection of children. That information will help adjust public policies and direct resources where they are needed.
