An inmate at Penitentiary 12 in Bender had 7 years added to his current jail time after blackmailing a woman for two years, soliciting money against the threat of publishing nudes of her.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the blackmail began in 2021. The defendant created a fake social media account and started chatting with the victim, feigning interest in forming a couple. After talking her into sharing nude photos, he threatened the woman that he would publish them unless she paid 7,000 lei, which she did. The money was conveyed through a taxi driver.

Later he extorted another 250 euros from the woman. A few months later still, the sextorsionist demanded that she get him a phone. But that was not all. In early May 2022, he asked for another 300 euros, and 2 months later, another 400 euros. The money was transferred to him by the same method. In total, the victim paid the equivalent of about 30,000 lei.

The 33-year-old defendant was sentenced to another 7 years in prison and ordered to pay a 70,000 lei fine.
