The Ministry of Justice starts to draft the interim report on the implementation of the recommendations concerning human rights of the UN member states addressed to the Republic of Moldova. In this connection, it requests the public authorities to transmit information related to the areas of activity reported to the UN Human Rights Council to the Ministry’s email address by March 29, IPN reports.
The Republic of Moldova was recommended to strengthen the capacities of the national human rights protection institutions and the national mechanisms for promoting anti-discrimination policies. The promotion of gender equality policies and elimination of domestic violence and the ensuring of children’s rights and the rights of persons that belong to national minorities are also among the recommendations of the UN member states. They also called on the Moldovan authorities to improve the detention conditions, to eliminate torture and other forms of ill-treatment and to offer access to justice.
The recommendations were inserted in the report adopted by the UN Human Rights Council on March 16, 2017 as part of the Universal Periodic Review.
According to the Ministry of Justice, in 2017 – 2021 the Republic of Moldova is to implement the recommendations and to report on the achieved results at the 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council set to take place in October – November 2021.
