The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family and the public association “Partnerships for every child” will stage an international conference themed “Modern Alternative Childcare Practices” in Chisinau on May 24. According to the organizers, the aim of the event is to share the experience in guaranteeing the child’s right to family, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The conference is organized as part of the child protection system reform implemented in Moldova and focuses on the necessity of developing professional parent assistance for looking after children deprived of parental care, this being a key service in the system of family and community services.
The service offers many kinds of family-type assistance, including emergency, short- and long-term placement, depending on the needs and situation of the children. The participants in the conference will discuss the international and regional positive practices in developing the professional parent assistance service for preventing and timely dealing with the difficult situations of the child and family and with the deinstitutionalization of children in residential institutions.
The event will be attended by representatives of the local authorities from all over the country, of the central authorities, NGOs and international organizations.
The conference is organized within the project “Supporting local authorities of Moldova to provide alternative family based-care to children without parental care” that is implemented by public association “Partnerships for every child” in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, with financial support from World Childhood Foundation.
