Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici - citizens of honor of Chisinau

The promoters of the Latin script and Romanian language Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici will become citizens of honor of Chisinau alongside Grigore Vieru and other prominent figures who lived and worked in Moldova’s capital. Chisinau was the home and cradle of Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici and the City Hall is obliged to remember them, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said at Monday’s meeting of the municipal divisions and services, Info-Prim Neo reports. The mayor said that the International Festival “Twin Hearts” from next year will be organized by the City Hall. A relevant decision was already signed and the Chisinau Municipal Council is to decide the amount that will be allocated in 2010. According to the mayor, this prestigious festival that was initiated and organized by the family of the late Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici will be included in the list of the City Hall’s cultural activities. “The role and importance of the two artists is great and the festival should have the same status as the Romanian Language Day, the Poetry Festival "Grigore Vieru” and other national holidays,” the mayor said. About 100 singers from Moldova and abroad have participated in the “Twin Hearts” festival this year. Ten-year-old Maria Craciun from Romania became winner in the children’s section, while the grand prize went to Cristina Croitoru from Moldova.
