Mayor general of Chisinau municipality Ion Ceban said that a number of parking lots will become available in the municipality this year. He avoided specifying the number of parking places, their location and when these will be built, but assured that such data will be made public in a month, IPN reports.

The parking lots are connected to the transport system. “I said: when we speak about dedicated lanes, public transport, parking places, electronic ticketing – all these things should be regarded as a whole. We are now working on the concept of multistory parking places, in yards of apartment buildings, in the perimeter of streets that are parallel to arteries,” Ion Ceban stated in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

According to Ion Ceban, parking places should be set up at the entrances to the city so that the people leave their cars there, go through the capital city with public transport and ease traffic and also downtown as many cars are parked chaotically there and the situation is not regulated at present.

The mayor announced that the stopping up of streets with cold asphalt started in Chisinau as such works can be performed during the cold period of the year. The works to lay warm asphalt will begin in March. “On all the central streets, the stopping up works will be completed in February and the warm asphalt will start to be laid afterward. Such works will also be executed in yards of apartment buildings,” stated Ion Ceban.

He added that the works on the streets Ion Creangă, 31 August 1989 and Tighina will be finished soon.
