Israel postpones payments for mandatory electronic authorization

The Israeli authorities have postponed until January 1, 2025 the introduction of payments for mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization - ETA-IL on entry into the country. Obtaining the ETA-IL was to become mandatory and paid for as of August 1, 2024 for travelers from all visa-exempt countries, including for citizens of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the web page for obtaining the ETA-IL started operating on a trial basis from June 1, 2024. In the period, the Population and Immigration Authority received a series of requests for the revision of the date of transition from the testing regime to the operational one. Thus, according to the current Israeli authorities’ decision, the pilot program has been extended until December 31, 2024, with the citizens of the Republic of Moldova having the opportunity to apply for the authorization without paying the fee.

The Electronic Travel Authorization is obtained exclusively electronically.

The fee for ETA-IL was to be the equivalent of about 120 Moldovan lei.
