Israeli aid for Moldovan flood victims

The first consignment of aid for flood victims provided by Israel reached Moldova on July 15. “We join the international spirit of solidarity. This aid comes to confirm the special and strong relations of friendship between our countries. We want to show the Moldovan people that Israel is their friend,” Israeli Ambassador to Romania Oren David said in a news conference held at the Chisinau International Airport, Info-Prim Neo reports. The donation consists of 1,000 blankets and 12 military courts adjusted to emergencies. “This aid is intended for the flood victims from Cotul Morii, Nemtni, Obileni and Sarateni villages of Hancesti district, which were the worst hit,” said Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, who came to the airport to meet the aid. Veaceslav Negruta said Moldova received aid from Romania and Austria and is expecting assistance from Germany. Kazakhstan, the UN and the U.S. Government also expressed their readiness to help Moldova. Over 8 million lei has been collected into the Ministry of Finance’s accounts for flood victims so far. Under a Government decision, 1 million of this sum was already distributed to affected persons.
