A couple from Israel tried to take over US$160,000 out of the Republic of Moldova without declaring the sum. The money was found during the security check of the hand baggage of the two passengers at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports, quoting the Border Police.

The two citizens of Israel are aged 59 and, respectively, 67, being husband and wife. When scanning the baggage, the border police noticed items similar to banknotes in the hand baggage of the two. About US$40,000 was found in one of the bags and US$120,000 in another bag.

The case is being examined. The two passengers said they didn’t know about the procedure for taking money out the Republic of Moldova.

In accordance with the regulations, the equivalent of the sums higher than €10,000 is mandatorily declared.
