Issue of migration discussed in Chisinau
The Government of Moldova attaches special importance to the formulation of the Extended Migration Profile that represents an exhaustive file of the phenomenon of migration, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said in a seminar themed “Integration of migration in the development of strategic policies.”
The seminar was held within the Global Forum on Migration and Development that is taking place in Chisinau for the first time, on October 12-13, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the event, there was presented Moldova’s experience in the field. Natalia Gherman spoke about the steps taken by the Moldovan authorities to manage migration within the dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime between Moldova and the EU.
The seminar was organized by the Government of Moldova and co-chaired by the Governments of Bangladesh, Mali and Jamaica, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Development Program.
The Global Forum on Migration and Development is a format of intergovernmental dialogue on migration and development. It is considered one of the most important platforms for formulating global policies on migration.
The Government of Moldova is one of the four Governments, alongside those of Bangladesh, Jamaica and Mali, that is implementing the Pilot-Project on the Integration of Migration in Development. The project is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented in cooperation with UNDP and IOM.
