President Nicolae Timofti Wednesday issued a decree nominating interim Prime Minister Iurie Leanca for the post of Head of Government. Iurie Leanca must present the government program and his team to Parliament within 15 days, IPN reports.

Nicolae Timofti said in a press briefing that only the Lib-Dems proposed a candidate – Iurie Leanca – in the consultations he held with the parliamentary factions. The other factions recognized the Liberal-Democratic Party’s right to designate the candidate. The Communists didn’t take part in the consultations.

The head of state called on the MPs to realize the importance of the moment and to vote in a new Government.

The executive was dismissed by Parliament by a censure motion on March 5. Iurie Leanca has held the post of Premier on an interim basis since April 25.
