Iurie Leanca: I hope we today will have talks, not only discussions

The group of unaffiliated MPs led by Iurie Leanca wants negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary coalition, not only discussions to take place within the January 5 meeting with the parliamentary parties, the group’s leader said after the consultations with the head of state, noting the time is pressing the MPs to take decisions as swiftly as possible, IPN reports.

“In the consultations with the head of state, we agreed that a new attempt should be made to form a functional majority. We said that a clear majority and a Government that will be the reflection of this majority are needed. I hope we will be able to open the talks today and will hold not only discussions, while the negotiations will lead to the creation of a majority that will undertake clear objectives, reforms, etc.” said Iurie Leanca.

As to the Lib-Dems’ assertion that they are those who must propose a candidate for Prime Minister, Iurie Leanca said that only by insistence outside talks and by statements, not much progress can be made. ‘”It is important to sit at the negotiating table and to focus on the priorities so as to agree a compromise candidate,” said the politician, adding that in the consultations with the head of state they didn’t discuss names of possible candidates and raising this issue is now not opportune.

At 4m, the Leanca group will meet at talks with the Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party.
