Japan offers financial support to Moldovan health system

Moldova will benefit from about US$400,000 worth of grants from Japan within the program “Kusanone”. The money will be provided for projects in healthcare, IPN reports.

In an event held to sign grant contacts with the six beneficiaries, Japan’s Ambassador in Chisinau Masanobu Yoshii said that Japan supported and will support projects that promote social stability and economic development. The program “Kusanone” directly helps the authorities and public institutions so as to increase the quality of life.

The US$400,000 will got to purchase medical equipment that will be delivered to the Briceni District Hospital, the Clinical Allergy and Immunology Lab of “Nicolae Testemitanu” University, the Institute of Cardiology and the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Saint Archangel Mikhail” of Chisinau. There will also be financed the building of the heating system of “Tudor Zanet” Lyceum of Congaz and extension of the sewerage system in Ghidighici village.

Institute of Cardiology director Vitalie Moscalu expressed his confidence that the new equipment will help the patients recover swifter and return to the family.

Deputy Minister of Health Liliana Iasan said the Government of Japan became a reliable friend of the health system of Moldova and thanked it for this. 

The program “Kusanone” was launched in Moldova in 2008. In 2008-2016, it financed 38 projects with grants totaling over US$3.3 million.
