The Jewish Cemetery in Chisinau will be rehabilitated and transformed into a Jewish historical cultural center. This will include a number of historical monuments of the Jewish community and will be an area for commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and a tourist attraction, IPN reports.

In this connection, the Cabinet approved a decision on the transfer of the cemetery from the Chisinau Municipal Council to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research so as to enable the Government to develop the center.

Recently, Prime Minister Pavel Filip visited the Jewish Cemetery that is now in a disastrous state, with two thirds of this being destroyed.
