The agenda of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS for the first half of this year includes meetings of a number of commissions and the Assembly’s session scheduled for April 18.
The Moldovan Parliament’s commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, together with the Secretariat of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Chisinau local office of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection for the Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations, launched a contest by which journalists are encouraged to actively cover the IPA’s work.
In a news conference at IPN, the Commission’s head Chiril Lucinschi said the work of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is neglected by the national media outlets for a number of reasons. One of them is the fact that the journalists are not present at the given events. The MP voiced hope that the legislature will find possibilities for delegating representatives of the media to attend the organization’s meetings.
Sergey Karavaev, vice director of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection for the Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations, said such a contest is held for the first time. Similar contests for journalists from other countries will be organized in order to stimulate the covering of the work of the CIS IPA.
Detailed information about the activity of the CIS IPA is available on www.iacis.ru, which is permanently updated.
The contest for journalists is held between March 10 and June 30. To take part in the contest, the applicants must submit at least four materials (articles, news, features, interviews) to the email address iv_alina987@mail.ru.
