Judge Oleg Melniciuc was sentenced to seven years in jail for un just enrichment and was banned from holding particular posts or performing a particular jurisprudential activity for a period of 15 years. The sentence was given by the Anenii Noi Court on September 3, IPN reports.

The court decided that the seized property will remain confiscated.

The jail term begins the day the conviction remains final.

Oleg Melniciuc pleads not guilty and intends to challenge the argued sentence.

The judge started to be investigated for unjust enrichment in the summer of 2017. The case was sent to court in 2018. Oleg Melniciuc was accused of intentionally including incomplete or false data in his property and personal interest statements in 2013-2017 and of possessing properties whose value is much larger than the legally earned incomes.
