King Mihai I of Romania becomes Doctor Honoris Causa of Agrarian University

King Mihai (Michael) I of Romania was conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the State Agrarian University of Moldova in appreciation and gratitude to the Romanian Royal House for laying the foundations of the university 80 years ago, IPN reports.

The award ceremony held in Chisinau on October 8 involved Princess Margareta, the elder daughter of King Mihai I, and Prince Radu, who will transmit the title to the Royal House.

Prince Radu read a message signed by King Mihai I, where his royalty says that the award is not a personal recompense, but rather homage rendered to the generations that suffered for democracy prosperity and freedom.

“The students who study at the university today will reap the harvest of this blessing in the next decades. Founded in 1933, your university enjoyed support from the kings of Romania. Those who were and are called to fulfill this nice mission are those who understood that the force of a nation grows by the moral development of a people,” reads the message.

The Agrarian University was founded on April 9, 1933 by the promotion by King Karol II of the law on the transformation of the Agricultural Sciences Section of the Iasi University into the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences based in Chisinau.
