The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family proposes instituting state benefit for victims of domestic violence that suffered serious bodily injuries. The conditions and procedure are to be set by the Government, if Parliament adopts the given legislative initiative, IPN reports.
The benefit will be provided when the damage caused to the victim is not covered by the aggressor. The bill author said the legislative initiative is designed to meet the provisions of the Istanbul Convention, which recommends providing such benefit to victims who suffered bodily injuries.
The bill provides that the victims of domestic violence will be exempted from paying the state tax when submitting an application for issuing an order of protection to court and from other court costs.
The authors propose that the state bodies should have powers to issue restraining orders immediately, for a period of up to 10 days, if the danger of domestic violence persists. While the order is in force, the aggressor is unable to return to the dwelling or to contact the victim and the children. Currently, the order of protection is issued only by court decision.
The persons convicted of domestic violence will be obliged to take part in special re-socialization programs.
