Update: Press officer Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that after over an hour, the firefighters managed to bring the blaze on the Zoology Institute’s roof under control. They now work to fully extinguish this, carrying out washing and dismantling works. The size of the affected area and the cause of fire are not yet known. No one was hurt.

The roof of the Zoology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova situated in Telecentru quarter of Chisinau caught fire. All the vehicles of the firefighting service of Chisinau municipality travelled to the scene.

Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, has told IPN that all the people were evacuated from the building. No casualties were reported.

The firefighters struggle to contain and put out the blaze. The area covered by flames cannot be yet estimated.

The Info Trafic Service said the section of Academiei St between the streets Soseaua Hancesti and Gheorghe Asachi was temporarily closed to traffic owing to the fire.
