The Political Party “Right” warns the current government and the people about the imminent dangers that can be generated by the Filip Government’s intention to privatize a number of companies, including Tutun-CTC and Moldtelecom. The party insists that the privatization should be in the interests of the country’s people, IPN reports.

In a press release, the party says the dangers derive from the sad privatization experience of Moldova, starting with the big theft of the population called privatization against patrimonial bonds and ending with the stealing at Banca de Economii, which brought the national financial-banking system to its knees, and the concession of the Chisinau International Airport.

Non-transparency in the privatization contest is the first danger. The “Right” calls on the authorities to ensure maximum transparency in the privatization contest and auctioning procedure by engaging experts from Romania and the EU in organization and holding of the contest.

According to the party, the second danger resides in the privileging of Russian economic entities in the privatization process, as it happened during many years in Moldova’s wine industry, banking system and Chisinau airport. “This policy to privilege Russian companies in the privatization process was a continuation of the Soviet policy to make Moldova’s economy fully dependent on Russia’s, which is vulnerable and weak. Given the current economic crisis in Russia, this country can no longer be privileged as a potential investor, Russia being unsafe in terms of market economy, legality and democracy. Therefore, the “Right” suggests that Parliament should adopt a special law, by Ukraine’s example, by which to ban any type of privatization and concession involving Russian economic entities,” said the party.

It considers that Moldova’s economic property is the people’s property and the legal authorities of Moldova should privatize parts of it in accordance with the people’s interests and should avoid public appropriation.
