The monthly moisture norm in soil was exceeded in parts following the rain of the last few days. The largest precipitation fell in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti. According to the State Hydrometeorology Service, the rain will stop on July 2 and temperatures will rise to 29-30 degrees Celsius.

In the municipality of Chisinau, the quantity of water in the soil was 120-130 liters per square meter, which is almost two monthly norms. The amount of water in Balti is within the monthly norm – 60-90 liters per square meter. The average per country is 30-50 liters per square meters or 60% of the monthly norm.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Metrology Division Lidia Treshchilo said that such precipitation falls seldom, once in 15-30 years. “In Moldova such rain fell in 2001 too,” she stated.

On July 4-5, there will be insignificant precipitation in the central and southern parts of the country.
