Every person will be able to see the petitions and challenges filed by MPs and the answers to them on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office from November 5, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco announced in the program “Viata Publica” (“Public Life”) on Radio Moldova on November 3, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We are a transparent institution. I think that the people should know the problems that are addressed by questions, petitions and challenges,” stated Valeriu Zubco.
As regards lawmakers’ requests to question the Prosecutor General in Parliament, Valeriu Zubco said it’s good that the MPs inquire about certain criminal cases, but should not forget about the criminal procedure that includes protecting the personal data. “The Prosecutor General cannot shed light on certain criminal cases in the legislature because we speak about judicial authority,” he stated.
He also said that the legislative body’s regulations provide who, when and in what conditions should present information in Parliament. The Prosecutor General is not the one who should come before the MPs to report on criminal cases. “I call on all those who submit petitions to consult again the law before doing this. Nobody is allowed to violate the human rights because any person involved in a trial is regarded as a suspect before their guilt is proven and have rights guaranteed by the law,” said Valeriu Zubco.
The Communist parliamentary group repeatedly asked that the Prosecutor General be invited to Parliament to cast light on the April 7 events, the raider attacks and the crime situation in the country.
