After the December 21 consultations with the head of state, where the sides reached no agreement as to a common candidate for premiership, MP Iurie Leanca told the press that for him it is important what intentions the candidate has and how this intends to secure the support of a functional majority and to take the country out of the crisis.
“When the head of state nominates a candidate and our votes are needed to vote this in, we will examine the candidate and will pronounce when a vote is held in Parliament,” stated the leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova.
The candidate for premiership is nominated by the head of state after holding consultations with the parliamentary groups. Earlier, President Nicolae Timofti said that if the parties do not achieve consensus by today, he will nominate a candidate of his choice.
