The Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities endorsed a bill to amend the Law on the Status of Judge by which the retirement age for judges is gradually raised from 50 to 63, which is the standard retirement age, starting with next year until 2028. The special seniority of judges will be extended from 12.5 years to 20 years, IPN reports.
The pension will be equal to 55% of the last salary. For each full year in the office of judge after reaching a length of service of 20 years, the pension will rise by 3%. Also, the pension could not exceed 80% of the last salary. The given changes do not apply to the pensions set earlier.
The authors also proposed annulling the judge’s right to a single resignation allowance equal to 50% of the result obtained by multiplying the average monthly salary to the number of years worked fully as a judge.
The legislative proposal was put forward by MPs of the PAS group of the ACUM Bloc Dan Perciun and Radu Marian.
