Local councilors will lose seats if they miss meetings without reason
The local councilors who will be absent from three consecutive meetings of the local council or the commission of which they form part without reason will be dismissed. The given amendments to the law on the local public administration were approved by the Government on April 6, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The amendments were introduced following a legislative initiative submitted by MP Tudor Deliu. Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said that the quorum is often not present and the local councils cannot take decisions at the right time. Some of the councilors left the country after their seats were validated and took part in none of the meetings of the council.
According to the minister, the move is aimed at making the work of the local councils more efficient and the councilors more responsible.
