The leader of the Machena criminal organization, who is currently in detention, was sentenced to an additional 21 years in prison for ordering and organizing the assassination of a rival criminal leader in 2008. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the murder was committed in a closed prison by members of the criminal group held in the same jail, IPN reports.

As a result of blows applied with hard objects to vital parts of the body, the victim died. Later, the body twas taken to another floor of the penitentiary to hide the traces of the crime. The motive for the murder was the desire to strengthen the position of the criminal organization led by him in correlation with other criminal organizations, as well as to conceal particular information relevant to other similar crimes.

For the assassination, the Machena leader promised privileges and promotion in the hierarchy within the criminal organization led by him.

Earlier, prosecutors brought to justice the five men who committed the crime and these were sentenced to 13 years in jail.

Now the defendant serves time for creating and managing the criminal organization, for blackmail and planning of murder.
